What is the difference between Wicca and witchcraft? What are some good books on witchcraft?
I know that Wicca is a religion with witchcraft in it but I don't think that witchcraft is just the practice of magick.
Wicca and Witchcraft are thought to be the exact same things, but in reality, it isn't. Wicca is a polytheistic faith that reveres Nature and worship a Goddess and/or a God, and we believe that the Divine manifest in both the natural world and the Universe. The only reason as to why people think the two things are synonymous is that the majority of Wiccans out there practice Witchcraft. There are some Wiccans who do not practice Witchcraft, however, they focus on the spiritual aspect of the faith and pray.
Witchcraft, however, is a practice that is compatible with some faiths. The practice of Witchcraft is a learned skill rather than a religion. It is often mistaken for a religion because some Wiccans who practice Witchcraft call themselves Witches. Me, for example, I call myself both Wiccan and a Witch, because both things incorporate with me.
Some really good books I have read on Wicca and Witchcraft include:
-Wicca: The Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham
-Green Witchcraft by Ann Moura
-Wicca: Ancient Feminine Magic (as a bonus, there is a pentacle necklace in there!)
There are lots of good books out there. Barnes and Noble is where I go, and I think they have a great selection of the stuff. Go with your own judgement and decide what is good. Blessed be!

Does anyone know of any pagan/witchcraft/spiritualist shops in the East Riding of Yorkshire or Hull/York?
Thanks =]
Preferbly selling books and suplies
Btw, I know I asked a question, why people put pagan questions in Mythology and Folklore, but now after reading the answers I can see why so im not being a hypocrit!!
You could try checking the listings on www.witchvox.com, you may find one or two shops like that. You could also try word of mouth, if you know other Pagans in your area you could ask them, or contact them through witchvox, get chatting, and ask if they know any good shops in the area.
There are usually a few good shops, but it may take a bit of searching as they're rarely on the high street. I'm a bit sad, so I consider it an exciting adventure to search through side streets for good shops.
If you can't find any decent shops you can always try online, you usually get a better selection, but you miss the human connection you'd get in a physical shop.

Is it a bad idea to cast a circle or do any wicca ritual work with three people aligned to air?
Or do things work better if you have a balance of each or two elements?
Merry Meet Ghia,
Since you are asking this question, I am assuming you are a neophyte? If this is the case then it’s better to focus on the basics of circle casting and simple dynamics of the ritual itself, not the intricacies of elemental balance or over complicated applications of the practitioners or tools within the ritual setting. Keep it simple and it will be fulfilling, over complicate things and you will not enjoy the ritual nor would your intent have a good chance of coming to fruition. I hope this helps some.
Blessed Be

White Wicca
Can you practice white magic and still praise God?
Doesn't mean im gettin into the Wicca religion...
It depends what you mean by "white magic"? If you mean helping others, praying for others, and working in synergy with God, that it is totally conducive to a life of worship. If you mean using seemingly innocent (ie white) magical means to attract a mate, get money, and good fortune, then no, it is not compatible with a prayer life.
Depending on your perspective, intercessory prayer, sacraments (the Eucharist), charity, and other Christian practices can be viewed as white magic. But what do you hope to get? Any self-serving magic isn't really "white". Any self-sacrificing, God-and-neighbour directed act is "white". Call it magic if you will.

Flying Ointment
Are workers the fly in the ointment?
President Bush wants a level playing field to compete with the rest of the world. Is that a euphemism for low US wages.
Yes, no doubt at the very top of Bushitler's agenda is to lower wages for Americans. I bet that's what motivated him to go into politics in the first place -- to enforces lower wages for Americans. I bet he can't sleep at night for the thought that some janitor somewhere is making 50 cents an hour too much. I bet every time he gives a speech he looks out on the crowd and thinks "The world sure would be a better place if all these people made less money." He'd probably SAY that if it weren't for the Teleprompter.
