Cleansing Smudge
Can purple sage be used for making smudge sticks?
Will it have the same cleansing affect as the regular white sage?
There are a lot of sage bushes in my backyard, but there seem to be more purple sage than common sage, and I don't want to break too much of the common sage if purple will have the same affect when smudging.
Why don't you just try it and find out? There is no reason why not, as far as I can see. Anything aromatic and non-toxic can be used for smudging. Use what's in the backyard, don't let it go to waste!

Sage Cleansing
What are some indigenous sacred sage plants in arizona?
I have been reading about using sage plants for healing and cleansing. I was wondering can you use any sage plant? Also what sage plants can I find in arizonas sonoran desert? If you could give me the name or a link to a picture I would appreciate it. When I take walks in the desert I want to keep my eye out for them. I know I can buy them, but I would rather just find one.
Go to the Internet with "sage as medicine." Good stuff there.

Smudge Stick
Help about pine smudge stick?
I was thinking of making a smudge stick to burn in my house for this yuley time of year ^-^ ~ I've never made one before, so I've researched it a little and I got a bit confused. I'm pretty sure pine is okay to burn, but I don't know if I should strip the needles off or what? Help please, and if you have any other stuff like colours of thread I should use or random information, feel free to add it :] Thank you!
I'm not sure what you mean by "burn." Will you be placing this inside a fireplace? Generally speaking, smudge sticks are used in cleansing rituals. The smudge stick is lit and waved about a room in a spiraling action. You can use pine, with the needles on, but the pine bough should be completely dried out. Here is a site of an individual who sells smudge sticks. You can get a pretty good close up picture of what they look like and how they are tied off. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=35377923

Many sages can be used for smudging. I've used grocery store sage, prefer sweet grass that I grow. Here's more info: http://www.asunam.com/smudge_ceremony.html
