Does anyone know of any pagan/witchcraft/spiritualist shops in the East Riding of Yorkshire or Hull/York?
Thanks =]
Preferbly selling books and suplies
Btw, I know I asked a question, why people put pagan questions in Mythology and Folklore, but now after reading the answers I can see why so im not being a hypocrit!!
You could try checking the listings on www.witchvox.com, you may find one or two shops like that. You could also try word of mouth, if you know other Pagans in your area you could ask them, or contact them through witchvox, get chatting, and ask if they know any good shops in the area.
There are usually a few good shops, but it may take a bit of searching as they're rarely on the high street. I'm a bit sad, so I consider it an exciting adventure to search through side streets for good shops.
If you can't find any decent shops you can always try online, you usually get a better selection, but you miss the human connection you'd get in a physical shop.

Celtic Goddess
Can you give me any details about a Celtic Goddess?
She has long dark hair and appears blind in one eye. I think her name is Moira but I am not sure.
Thanks for your help.
In Greek mythology, Moira was the personification of fate and necessity.
Fates, in Greek religion and mythology, three goddesses who controlled human lives; also called the Moerae or Moirai. They were: Clotho, who spun the web of life; Lachesis, who measured its length; and Atropos, who cut it. The Roman Fates were the Parcae—Nona, Decuma, and Morta. In Norse mythology, the three Norns wove the web of life.
Norns, the Norse Fates. Like the Fates of Greek religion and mythology, the Norns spun and wove the web of life. Belief in the Norns was of great importance in Germanic religion and life. It was said that no one, not even the gods, could escape their fate. The Norns were usually three in number—Urth or Wyrd (the past), Verthandi (the present), and Skuld (the future). The three weird sisters of destiny in Shakespeare's Macbeth are probably Scottish equivalents of the Norns.

Stickers Pagan
I saw a bumper sticker that said "I am a pagan and I vote" , Pagan?
The word pagan sounds like a word used in the middle ages, that's all. I know the word athiest and what it means, but Pagan sounds midieval
WOW - so what
"its meaning evolved to include all non-Christians. Eventually, it became an evil term that implied the possibility of Satan worship. The latter two meanings are still in widespread use today." http://www.religioustolerance.org/paganism.htm
After the election I got an email of a pumber sticker that had a big "O" and the work "sh*t" was underneith it. I like that one!

Candles Wicca
what role do candles play in wicca?
if you are going to use them in your practices, do you have to prepare them in a certain way? i know that the color of the candle can represent certain things. does each color have a set meaning or is it just whatever that color means to yourself?
Merry Meet,
I would just like to say that candles don't have to be used in ritual at all. All you need to do is have a visualization of them. The reason that we tend to use candles is so that we have physical markers for ourselves. If doing candle magick then colour does matter, and the colours each have a meaning in and of themselves. Depending on the tradition and path you follow is what colour it represents, for example in some wiccan paths air is yellow, in the celtic path it is brown. So a blue candle can mean one thing in one path and something completely diffrent in another. But if you are using coloured candles then the intent has to be there, i don't recommend using a pink candle for healing and a blue for acquiring love/ lust. But this is of course personal choice. There are a lot of really good web sites out there and there are a lot of good books as well. Some people do perfer to prepare their candles before ritual use and then there are others that don't this is really personal choice and of course what you intend on using the candle for. Quarter candles don't necessarily need to be blessed or infused before use, but using a candle for scrying in circle may need to be. I hope this answers your question and i didn't ramble on to much.
In light and love,
Kelly
