Tree Pentacle
Is it a pentacle or pentagram?
https://www.mysticearth.net/store/images/T/JP124.jpg
i recently bought that one from a store called magickal realms. im not sure if the circle is a pentagram or pentacle.
can someone tell me the difference? i looked up a similar question and nobody answered it right. I want to know what they mean, not the origins of the words or whatever. which one do Wiccans use most? Does it even matter? which are Satanist believed to use as a symbol?
I recently bought that one and another old one. its a star in a cirlce, mother goddess on the bottom -appears to be the earth. forest, trees in the background. a moon and a sun on the opposite sides of the top point on the star. then, in the middle of the big star is a type of nice clear stone or ruby. it old and supposed to be silver, but i refuse to polish it.
sorry. i meant "it's" old.
A pentagram is a geometic shape, just like a square or a triangle. A pentagram is a shape with five points to it. So the design is a pentagram.
"Pentacle" is sometimes used to describe objects on which pentagrams are drawn. Most often it refers to a disk that is set on an altar, but I wouldn't quibble over calling a necklace a pentacle too.
So both terms are appropriate for the necklace.
Wiccans most commonly use point-up pentagrams, and Satanists use point-down pentagrams. More people will presume you're a Satanist if you wear a point-down pentagram, although Wiccans do sometimes use point-down pentagrams as well (although generally in ritual rather than in everyday wear). To many the meaning of the symbol can be dependent upon its orientation.

Wiccan beleifs and rituals?
I am interested in becoming wiccan. I do not plan to use magick , at least not until i am more experienced. i think i understnad most of the religion, (worshiping a god [sun] and goddess [moon], worshiping the elements {fire, water, air, earth}) and so on, and also I understand the veiws and the Wiccan Rede. Is there anything else i should know before i perform a self dedication ritual?
The God is not the sun and the Goddess is not the moon. These are merely representations, based on semi-European beliefs. Whereas the Egyptians saw the moon as the God Geb, and the sun as the Goddess Sehkmet/Bast. And in Japan, the Ainu people worshiped Amaterasu, the sun Goddess.
Not to mention, we respect the elements, but we do not worship them.
Until you learn such things, please keep studying the basics.

What is the difference between Wicca and witchcraft? What are some good books on witchcraft?
I know that Wicca is a religion with witchcraft in it but I don't think that witchcraft is just the practice of magick.
Wicca and Witchcraft are thought to be the exact same things, but in reality, it isn't. Wicca is a polytheistic faith that reveres Nature and worship a Goddess and/or a God, and we believe that the Divine manifest in both the natural world and the Universe. The only reason as to why people think the two things are synonymous is that the majority of Wiccans out there practice Witchcraft. There are some Wiccans who do not practice Witchcraft, however, they focus on the spiritual aspect of the faith and pray.
Witchcraft, however, is a practice that is compatible with some faiths. The practice of Witchcraft is a learned skill rather than a religion. It is often mistaken for a religion because some Wiccans who practice Witchcraft call themselves Witches. Me, for example, I call myself both Wiccan and a Witch, because both things incorporate with me.
Some really good books I have read on Wicca and Witchcraft include:
-Wicca: The Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham
-Green Witchcraft by Ann Moura
-Wicca: Ancient Feminine Magic (as a bonus, there is a pentacle necklace in there!)
There are lots of good books out there. Barnes and Noble is where I go, and I think they have a great selection of the stuff. Go with your own judgement and decide what is good. Blessed be!

Wicca Stones
Do most pagans convert to Wicca before finding their true path?
I asked a question the other day about how many people, not only pagans, came to the religion they are currently practicing, and most of the pagans said they practiced to Wicca before they converted to their religion.
What do you think, is Wicca a stepping stone for some people to get to their true path?
Sorry about my grammar and such, i just woke up.
Need Coffee! lol
I started with Wicca in 1985 and practiced for about 5 years before moving on. The reason being that it seemed to be the only option for someone who believed in polytheism. The problem is Wicca really isn't polytheism or at all really connected to the ancient religions that inspired its creation. People come to Wicca first because it is so publicized, and presented by many authors as all forms of Paganism are variations of Wicca, that many people start there. If they buy into it, they then get smacked in the face when the reality of Wicca hits them in the face, and they find the fundamental differences in Pagan religion. The biggest shocker for some it that a Pagan religion does not mean an earth-based religion.
