Kabbalah Hand
Selfish or Unselfish--Which is the best basic orientation in life?
Please don't say "a balance." That really doesn't help me figure this out. The Christian religion says clearly that the the best way to live is to be unselfish. Kabbalah says the same thing. On the other hand, many modern psychologists say that the best approach to life is to "look out for Number 1," i.e., for everyone to put themselves first and to focus on meeting one's own needs, seeking one's own goals, and protecting one's own turf. The writer Ayn Rand is famous for promoting a philosophy of self-centeredness that she called "Objectivism." Also, the economic system called Capitalism is based on the premise that everyone should compete in the marketplace for their own selfish desires. By contrast, the economic system called Communism or Socialism is based on the idea that citizens should not be selfish, and naturally don't want to be selfish. So, what's the answer? What should one's primary orientation in life be? Selfish, or Unselfish?
I would like to expand on what Kabbalah says about it, as I have been studying this method for several years now.
Although the main motto of Kabbalah is similar to other teachings: "Love your neighbor as yourself", Kabbalah also acknowledges that our basic inherent human nature is selfish egoism.
We simply cannot cancel, or suppress our own nature, but what we can do is to learn how to use it properly, how to continue to receive but with the intention of giving to others.
Since it is an obvious paradox, seemingly a complete contradiction - how to use our selfishness, our reception for giving to others - that is why we need Kabbalah, which is a practical method, a step by step ladder to teach us how to do all this. The word "kabbalah" means reception, as this method teaches us how to receive properly.
Only at the end of the ladder do we understand it fully, how to use our selfish reception for the unselfish giving to others.
I hope this and the links below can help, all the best.

What can I use to prevent eye pins from falling out of polymer clay?
I am making some polymer clay charms and have given them to friends I was told that the eye pins came out of the charms. I baked the eye pin into the charm with liquid sculpey & it still fell out, can anyone give me any tips?
I thought about bending the tip but thought the hole would be bigger but now that you mention it I could try slightly bending the middle, thanks!
I had luck poking my hole before I baked it ... making it just a tiny bit bigger to allow for shrinkage and then adhering the pin, after baking , by sticking the pin in a good glue ... E 6000 is one kind that worked and Goop another. then sticking it in the hole after it had been baked along with the glue.:) I also had luck bending the pin like a hook and adhering it with more clay after the piece was first baked and smoothing a small amount over the hook shaped pin. This worked great on earrings and things that were flat backed:)
