I grew up knowing from my entire Catholic family that if you have an important event coming up (ie wedding, big outdoor party etc) and you want good weather, you put a statue of the virgin mary in your window. I asked a random Catholic person in my town (thinking this was something my entire family may have made up) and he knows of it as well and said its a known thing and many do it. It has worked for my family. I was wondering does anyone else do this? And where does it come from? I've searched everywhere online!!

Does anyone know the origins of the common myths about good luck and bad luck?

For example...why do people think rabbit feet are good luck? I mean rabbits have four and they live in a hole and usually end as food for a predator. And what about horseshoes, 4-leaf clovers and other good luck charms?

And why are things like spilling salt, breaking a mirror or walking under a ladder considered bad luck?

Do Christians wear them? What religion are the people that usually wear them?
