No, and here's why. Mary was saved from original sin by a special act of God at the moment of her conception. But had He not intervened, she would have been born with the same sin nature as the rest of us. That's why she proclaims "My soul hath rejoiced in God, my Savior" in her prayer of praise, the Magnificat. The only difference between Mary and ourselves in that regard is the fact that she was saved from original sin from the very first instant of her life and the rest of us are saved from it later in life during Baptism.

Jesus was God and therefore innately perfect. He had no need of being spared from original sin because He had no sin nature to begin with. Since He was the only One who was born sinless and didn't need saving, He alone could be the perfect sacrifice for sin.

The Blessed Virgin knew her Son was also the God Who had saved her from original sin, and as a creature, she would never have presumed to try to take His place.
