a nun in my Catholic church was married & divorced before she became a nun?

is it not against the religion?
& I had a baby out of wedlock, can I still become a nun?

There are cases where divorce is acceptable...abuse is one example. And divorce is not always sinful. Divorce and remarriage, without the previous marriage being found invalid, is the problem.

The Church's (and Christ's) position is that a divorce doesn't dissolve a sacramental marriage. So someone who simply divorces and then remarries could be committing adultery with the second "spouse".

And yes, there are nuns who are widowed, divorce, and who have had children. There are priests with the same situations.

Maria C, I have to clarify...divorce is NOT recognized by the Church. The Church recognizes that a civil divorce breaks the legal, civil bonds of a marriage. But it does NOT break the sacramental bounds of marriage. That is exactly why remarriage would be a problem without a decree of nullity.

About the baby out of wedlock. That is objectively sinful, but vows and holy orders are not reserved for the "perfect" people since no one is perfect yet. As long as the sister has repented and been to sacramental confession, I would assume that is not a huge problem.

Does St. Georges day fill you with patriotism?

To have a day of Britains greatest saint...who was mostly fabricated. Hmm.

It's Englands only day.
St. Patricks day is full of guinness and clovers, July 4th is as American as apple pie... I think we should make a bigger deal out of St. Georges day

Catholic Church Priest
I was wondering if it was just the roman catholic church priest accused of molesting boys?

Are they the only church to have this happen or has there been other religions?

Unfortunately it is not. The reason it has been news about this among Catholics is because it is so rare. Only 1/2 of 1% of Catholic clergy have been accused of sexual abuse. Among Protestant groups who have done studies it is approaching 15 %. Among Catholic clergy it is the lowest of any group including family members and school teachers. God bless!

Indigo Shawl pattern from Michaels?

Hi, I'm working on the indigo shawl crochet pattern from Michaels. I've already done the 42 flowers, however, now i'm stuck with the rest of the pattern. Here is what the next step states:

Non- Joined Edging:
Join C with slip st in a ny ch-2 sp, ch 6 (counts as first tr, ch 2), (tr, ch3, tr, ch2, tr) in same ch-2 sp, *(dc, ch3, dc) in next ch-2 sp**,(tr, ch2, tr, ch3, tr, in next ch-2 sp; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with slip st in 4th ch of beg ch.

My question is, do I do this step for all 42 flowers seperate?

If someone has or is working on the same pattern, please let me know. I would love to speak with you more one on one. I am trying to make this designs for my mother for her birthday and Christmas.

Thank you so much.

I am also working on this project. I am thinking that you do the different 'joined edging' as you go along. You start with the top left square which is labeled as B, you do the three open sides with the non-joined edging. They you go to one-side joined edging and use that to connect the B that you worked on and the A next to it. Now we have to use the Two-side joined edging to connect the B on the right side of the A and the B below the A. You continue on like this until all the motifs are connected. So any side that doesn't have to be joined you use the non-joined, any side that only needs one motif connected use one-side and such. At least that's how I think it's done. Hope it helps. We'll have to see as we work it.
