Question about silver on Western saddles?
I want to take of the conchos and silver (only has silver where the back cinch goes) off my saddle and change it. It's really cheap and cheesy looking, so I wanna put better looking conchos and silver on it.
I can handle the conchos, but I'm unfamiliar with the silver.
I've heard of people putting silver on themselves. How do they do that?
And where can I find that piece of silver?
The silver piece is on the billet slot.

Welcome to the world of western bling!
You can order almost anything you like through Montana Silversmiths-- they are the number one supplier of quality saddle silver. Note: You can probably Google "Saddle Silver Trim" and find other suppliers, but I would be more tempted to stick with Montana Silversmiths unless you can see the silver before buying it. Some companies sell really junk cheap silver. MS sells quality.
As for taking it off and putting it on, unless you can see the rivets or screws holding on the silver, you will probably have to find a saddlemaker or repair place that can carefully split the seams on the side of your saddle, to get to the screws. Then once they change out the silver, they can sew it back shut, good as new.
Enjoy your shopping. Oh, and the billet piece you are talking about is either a rigging plate or a cinch carrier plate, I think. Let me know if I'm wrong.
