Did the kingdom of Castile send any troops to the holy land during the 1st crusade?
Doesn't matter if it was a large army or a small one, I just need to know if there were any records of Castelian soldiers fighting in the 1st crusade since so far I have found no references to any.
Not officially.
The 4 main Crusader contingents in the First Crusade came from
Northern France (including Normandy).
Southern France.
Germany.
Norman states in Italy.
There is a possibility that individual or small groups of Castilians latched on to one or other of these groups during the First Crusade, but there was no distinct Castilian contingent as such.
