What do greeting card makers need to do to use old images?
There is currently a style of greeting card using old images from the 60's and 70's (mostly from old photography magazines I think), which they then add a funny or amusing caption to.
Are these images royalty free or do they have to buy the rights ?
What if the company that originally produced the image is no longer around ?
You need to have the rights to reproduce or sell any image less than 100 years old. Do some research and find out who owns the rights. You don't want to get sued because you're trying to sell a $3.95 greeting card.
