Ancient Greek Fashion Accessories – Enchanted Dreams
With a deep affinity for earrings, bracelets and rings that made of metal and semiprecious stones, ancient Greeks has gained a worldwide recognition for its enchanted jewelries. Gold is the most popular material that is used in creating the jewelries apart from precious metals.
Jewelry has undergone a long evolution over a long period of time. Jewelries were simple and they were manufactured mainly for daily uses. For instance, the pins or brooches were used to fasten the himation or the chiton, the seal rings were used to seal letters and significant documents. Until Hellenistic times jewelry began to take the features of intricate design and exquisite composition.
Footwears such as the sandals were also very common in ancient Greek. Featuring several straps stretching between the toes to the ankle in various fashions, the Greek sandals were very appealing and comfortable to wear. They were minimal, light and left the foot almost bare. Before the invention of high heels, women in ancient Greece try all means to make themselves taller by attaching cork sole to the leather sole. Men wore suitable shoes such as ankle high or mid-calf length and boots that either laced up or stayed on the foot with the help of a criss cross thong at the toe for travel or warfare.
Headgears were available in various shapes and styles. Apart from the well known cone-shaped hat, the bonnet was another appealing style. Women used to wear scarves that wrapped around the head. The saccus came with a tassel at the back and nets or snoods to hold the hair back. Made of woven straw, the petasos featured a brim that could be turned up or down as well as being fastened at the neck by a ribbon.
Makeup was also of great use for most women in ancient Greek. Makeup includes several aspects such as applying a white base color which was made of lead to the face, rouge which was made from vermilion or vegetables to the cheekbones and painting one’s lips.
Perfumes especially the essences of violet, mint, myrrh, marjoram and thyme were also enjoying great prevalence. They can be applied to different body areas according to their scents.
Good physical shape was of vital importance for both sexes even though only men were permited in the palestra.

How does the fact that cross is translated from stauros (Greek) prove that the Romans didn't use a crossbeam?
Why would Jesus especially draw people to himself through the cross or songs of the cross, if Jesus wasn't crucified on a cross, but crucified with hands straight up on a pole? If this is sooo important, why wouldn't God make it clear that this is a sin to think Jesus was crucified on a cross?
Does, God draw people to Jesus salvation in the Jehovah Witnesses praise & worship when they sing of the stauros?
