Wouldn't folks who are really environmentally minded NOT have electric Christmas lights and decorations?
A person who lives near me is always talking about helping the environment, yet they have a MASSIVE light show on their property for Christmas, with other, moving (electrically powered) Christmas figurines.
Is this type of energy waste good for the environment?
Isn't this a bit hypocritical?
Answer to the first question: No.
Answer to the second question: Not really.
Isn't that what we're trying to do here? Balance our eco-friendliness with our social friendliness? Practically anything we do has ramifications.
Life should not "suck". It should be enjoyable, but not wasteful. This guy probably has been pointed to the apparent conflict in behavior, so why compound it, especially as a neighbor?
No one is perfect, and I'm guessing even he's grappling with a comfortable balance. Let him figure it out.
I'd say - "Enjoy his display and let him pay the bill."
