What light does this shed on prayer in hospitals?
In a story originally published by the BBC it was shown that people who are being prayed for and know they are being prayed for actually did slightly worse than those who weren't.
which makes sense because since God is all knowing and all powerful he would have planned whether u were going to die already and either way wouldn't need reminding to heal.

First of all the BBC is hardly a reliable source.
If it is true though, I'd say that the reason would be that praying for people might scare them - they'd think if they were sick enough to be prayed for there must be something REALLY wrong.
And then on the other hand there are dozens of studies over the past decades that show the exact opposite - that people who are prayed for do BETTER than those who aren't.
I think it might actually have something to do with the society and culture the person lives in. If it's mainly an atheist society, praying for a person might kind of piss them off and irritate them. This certainly wouldn't help them get well.
I can't say that the results don't have ANYTHING to do with God, because I've witnessed two healings that should never have happened, myself. And Im not even a religious person. So I tend to just say "maybe" and leave it at that.
