Is it possible to recreate the aurora borealis in a lab?
Something along the lines of a simulation using gas and without high power needed. But if nothing like that exists then anything will do. And if you have a procedure that would be great.
If you have a large budget and can come up with the appropriate tools (powerful magnets. the appropriate gasses, the correct particle bombardment, etc) then yes... theoretically you can recreate the borealis in a scaled down laboratory format.
Cheaply? Not that I know of, however I could be wrong.
Of course, you could fill a glass tube with the same gasses in proportion and then drive an electrical current through the tube which will cause the gasses to glow... that.. technically would achieve the wanted results. (works much the same as a neon bulb)
